World-renowned photographers gave lectures in Kaliningrad with assistance of Technopolis GS

World professional photographers Alexey Shinkarenko (the Republic of Belarus), Vladimir Vyatkin (the Russian Federation) and Mariusz Widerinski (the Republic of Poland) gave lectures onsite the Gate art-space in Kaliningrad. Series of free lectures on photography was arranged by the Creative platform GS Fund (Technopolis GS) from August 23 to October 12, 2014.

Series of lectures on photography was held within the contest "The birth of the creative city". According to its results, announced on August 10, 2014, winners got the opportunity to create the authors series of photographs on the birth of the innovation cluster Technopolis GS under the auspices of renowned photographers from Russia, Belarus and Poland. Besides organization of workshops for finalists and assistance in arranging the photo shoot, the invited mentors held a course of free lectures on photography for everyone.

The course was opened by Polish photographer Mariusz Widelski who gave the lecture on August 23. Master of portraiture unveiled the difference between fine art photography and opposite approach.

On September 15, Vladimir Vyatkin, Russian master of photography presented the anthology consisting of over 800 reportage photo shots. In particular, the author presented shots taken at such hot spots as Chechnya, Afghanistan and others. Vladimir also gave lecture related to features of reportage photography.

On October 12 Alexey Shinkarenko, photographer from Belarus, delivered lecture on "What photographs talk about". Methods of interpreting photographs were considered by the example of archival and modern materials. Alexey tried to show the audience that the photograph must be performed the way that the audience believes what it depicts.

Public lectures aroused keen interest of beginners and professional photographers of the Kaliningrad region. Representatives of the Creative platform GS Fund expressed confidence that such activities should be held on an ongoing basis. "The Technopolis GS cluster is destined to turn into a place where talented people can generate and implement their ideas, work at modern enterprises and live a full and busy life, – says Elvira Gizatullina, Director of Creative platform GS Fund. – We are content that the public course of lectures on photography was well received by residents of the Kaliningrad region. We are ready to keep on organizing various creative activities to form a worthy social and cultural environment of Technopolis GS and the entire Kaliningrad region".

Creative Platform GS fund handles the development of the Technopolis GS and Gusev creative environment. Its objectives include support of creative, cultural and educational programs for a generation of social infrastructure, knowledge management in the field of culture, education and science and public engagement in city life processes as well as fostering social responsibility. Fund’s program embraces activities to carry out grant contests and special-purpose financing of cultural projects focused on urban infrastructure development. Besides that, the Fund provides support for arranging leisure, creative, cultural and entertainment activities for the urban district residents. The first official presentation of the Fund activities will take place on the exhibition featuring works of the winners of the contest "The birth of the creative city", which will be held in December, 2014 onsite the Gate art-space (Sackheim Gate, Kaliningrad).
