GS Summit 2012: results

Representatives of the leading telecommunication companies of the world during GS Summit marked an increase in the presence of Russian high technologies in the world market

On November the 8th during GS Summit representatives of the leading international telecommunication companies discussed the prospects of the increase of Russian high technology presence on the world market and noted its significant growth in recent years. Discussion of the current global TV broadcasting business trends took place at the round table “Digital broadcasting worldwide” at the Technopolis GS in Kaliningrad region. The organizer of the summit is General Satellite Corporation, a leading Russian developer and manufacturer of receiving equipment for television.

The round table “Digital Broadcasting Worldwide” which was held at the micro and nano-electronics research and production center GS Nanotech, became a place to discuss the process of digitalization of broadcasting in Asia, Africa as well as the prospects of Russian high technologies export, in particular, on the example of the project of the first digital terrestrial television in Cambodia which was successfully implemented by General Satellite Corporation. Director of the department of foreign broadcasting projects of General Satellite Corporation Mr. Sergei Dolgopolsky noted that Technopolis GS products are competitive in the global market: “Manufactures of Technopolis GS produce high-technology competitive production in accordance with the highest international standards, which makes it in-demand both in Russia and abroad”.

Representatives of international telecommunication companies in the presence of Russian and international media have come to the conclusion that Russia significantly increased its share in the global market. “Russia is becoming a competitive supplier of high technologies. It is not only doing well in terms of export of high-tech products, but also takes part in the development of telecommunications in the various regions of the world, including the launch of new international broadcasting projects”, – said Mr. Alex Borland, CEO ExSeT, UK.

GS Summit which lasted for two days was attended by participants from more than 15 countries – from Southeast Asia to South America. This is the first event of such size organized by General Satellite Corporation for international partners in order to exchange experience and ideas. “During GS Summit there was achieved considerable success in negotiations on various projects in different parts of the world. This is a really good reason to hold similar summits, extending their subject and representation in the future”, – summarized the participants of the round table.
